Precautions for horizontal directional drilling rig construction in summer
In summer, trenchless directional drilling construction needs to focus on preventing and controlling the impact of high temperatures and heavy rains. The core measures include:
Ⅰ maintenance and management
1. Cooling system inspection
- Check the coolant level and quality, and replace or refill it in time to ensure heat dissipation efficiency.

2. Hydraulic oil and lubrication management
III. Mud management
IV. Construction plan
adjustment
1. Work in different time periods
- Adopt the "early start, late end" mode, use the low temperature period in the early morning and evening to reduce the impact of high temperature on efficiency.
2. Shorten the duration of a single operation
- Stop every 2 hours to check the temperature and status of the equipment to avoid long-term high-load operation.

1. Develop emergency plans
- For scenarios such as heavy rain, equipment overheating, and heat stroke, clarify the handling process (such as emergency shutdown and personnel transfer).
2. Equipment backup plan
- Reserve vulnerable parts (such as seals and filter elements) to avoid high temperature accelerated loss and shutdown.
V. Material and tool management
- Anti-rust of drill pipe: The humidity is high in the rainy season, so the drill pipe should be cleaned and smeared with anti-rust oil in time after use.
- Locator protection: Avoid high temperature exposure to cause sensor errors, and increase the calibration frequency to once a day.
VI. Personnel safety and first aid
1. Heatstroke prevention and cooling measures
Provide cool drinks, Huoxiang Zhengqi water and other heatstroke prevention materials, set up fan or air-conditioned rest areas, and avoid working during the high temperature period at noon.
2. Optimization of protective equipment
Wear breathable work clothes and safety helmets to avoid heatstroke; wear non-slip shoes and insulating equipment for rainy days.
3. Identification of danger signs of high-temperature work
Mild heatstroke: headache, nausea, flushed face
Severe heatstroke: convulsions, coma, "three no" symptoms (unable to speak/unable to walk/unable to recognize people)
4. First aid plan
Transfer: Immediately transfer to an air-conditioned room or a cool and ventilated place
Heat dissipation: Unbutton the collar to facilitate breathing and heat dissipation
Cooling: Wipe the armpits, neck, and groin with warm water
Rehydration: After confirming that there is no convulsion, give electrolyzed water and light salt water in small amounts and multiple times
Summer construction needs to focus on "preventing high temperatures, rain and waterlogging, and fatigue". Through meticulous equipment maintenance, dynamic environmental monitoring, and scientific personnel scheduling, the seasonal impact can be minimized to ensure project safety and progress.
