High sand content in drilling fluids can lead to several issues:

- Loose mud cake formation, compromising wall protection.
- Increased cuttings accumulation at the drill bit, raising the risk of stuck pipe.
- Accelerated wear of mud pumps and potential circulation failure, which may bury the drill string.
